14" x 6,5" Adams Bell Bronze (5mm) Snare

Dutch build 14” x 6,5” Bell Bronze snare, made by Adams who are famous for their timpani.

The snare has a 5mm thick cast bronze shell which picked up a bit of patina over the years, making it look even better. Is came with good plated flanged hoops that are pretty worn down (still have them), so I decided to swap those for used die cast Gretsch (-style, not sure if it’s really Gretsch or not) hoops, which work better with the snare than the original flanged hoops if you ask me. The throw off works fine, but could use some adjusting if you want to use it for orchestral playing, since it makes a little bit of noice when you take it off.

The sound of the snare is fantastic. Open and warm sounding snare, that has a very clear tone and responsive playing. Some bell bronze snares can be quite harsh, but this one plays balanced.
